Wildstep Productions is an independent film production company specializing in Natural History and environment, founded in 2014 by Daniel Pinheiro, photographer and director.
We produce documentary, commercial and scientific programs, offering all phases of production with final delivery of the product up to 6K resolution. We specialize in animal behavior, landscape, biodiversity, aerial imaging with drones, macro, tele-lenses and timelapse. Working together with universities, scientists and naturalists, our goal is to reach the general public by connecting art, science and conservation.
Our productions were broadcast on Portuguese TV (RTP1, RTP2, SIC) and internationally, TVE (Spain), CCTV (China), Wild Planet (Russia), HRT (Croatia), Planete+ (Poland), among others, obtaining audience records in the format Natural History in Portugal. They were also awarded at several film festivals in Portugal.
Daniel Pinheiro
Producer and Director
Portuguese photographer and director, specializing in natural history, he founded Wildstep Productions in 2014. He has a Masters in Wildlife Documentary Production from the University of Salford, England, where he learned from several professionals from the BBC Natural History Unit, including Sir David Attenborough, Paul Reddish, Niel Lucas among others.

Director's Assistant / Camera Operator
Graduated in Architecture from F.A.U.P., he has collaborated since the founding of Wildstep Productions. He filmed more than 300 species of Portuguese fauna and flora, including the Iberian wolf, Iberian lynx and large birds of prey. Specialist in shelters for capturing images of sensitive species, construction of sets for terrestrial and aquatic filming.

Camera Operator / Editor
Since 2019, he has collaborated with Wildstep Productions in the production of natural history films. Operator of cinema and photographic cameras, motorized stabilization and time-lapse systems. Aerial image operator and broadcasting systems. He participated in several sport productions broadcast on TV.
In addition to the core team, Wildstep Productions counts on technical support from Universities, scientists and naturalists in its productions.
Our main camera is the Red Epic W 8K S35 cinema camera, delivering RAW footage with 16bits of color in Ultra High Definition, up to 6k 75fps.
Our lenses are mainly from Canon's professional series, with emphasis on the Canon EF 200-400mm f/4L IS USM TC 1.4x telephoto zoom lens. Motorized systems and Timelapse for imersive shots. Aerial image with DJI MAVIC 3, which allows agility and image quality from a Hasselblad sensor and 5.1K resolution.
